Rainbow Mountain Virtual Challenge

Peru’s Rainbow Mountain, originally known as Vinicuna, is famous for being the most colorful mountain in the world. Its spectacular colored stripes, ranging from turquoise to maroon and gold, are created by a unique alternation of distinct minerals in the soil.

The unique features of the Rainbow Mountain were only recently discovered, as the peaks were once covered by glaciers, which have melted due to global warming. Its staggering altitude of 5,200 meters above sea level makes for a journey just as fascinating as the destination.

Discover local communities, as well as wildlife, such as llamas, horses, and alpacas, on your way towards the summit of Vinicunca.
